“It’s OK to Be Good Here,” The Campaign for Nativity School of Worcester
In October of 2013, the Nativity Worcester community celebrated our school’s tenth anniversary at a gala attended by over 450 benefactors. The achievements of our graduates at prestigious high schools and colleges were clear as one graduate who was a featured speaker noted, “Nativity taught me to reach my fullest potential, not only in the classroom, but in life as well…understanding my challenging circumstances, Nativity took a chance on me.”
The gala also gave us the opportunity to publicly set high expectations for the future as well when we announced that we are embarking on the school’s first-ever capital campaign. “It’s OK to Be Good Here”: The Campaign for Nativity School of Worcester will ensure that future generations of boys from low-income homes will benefit from our school’s mission. The very heart of this three-year comprehensive fundraising effort ($7.5 million to capital programming; $3 million to annual operating expenses) is to fund excellence and sustainability by strengthening programming, improving facilities, and solidifying the finances. Currently, we have over $6.3 million dollars committed towards our goal.
The Campaign seeks to realize four goals:
- Retire the debt and renovate the school building at 67 Lincoln Street ($3 million)
- Retire the debt and renovate the teacher’s residence at Casa Maria in the Main South Neighborhood ($500,000)
- Establish the Nativity Scholarship Fund (Educational Endowment of $4 million)
- Continue to raise three years of operating expenses ($3 million)
